Certificate of Correction
On the back of a DOB violation is an order by the commissioner to correct the violating condition which caused the violation and file a certificate of correction.
Correct it.
1. Unless the violation were dismissed in court, you would have to correct the violating conditions on the violation and file for a correction.
File it.
2. Even if you correct the violating conditions but do not file a correction, it will be considered officially as not corrected. Then you will be subject to additional violations for not correcting.
(If the violation is for work without a permit, you will probably have to pull a permit before the work is complete to correct the violating condition)
